  • Mindbody acquires ClassPass – 2 global fitness focused software giants. Mindbody also disclosed a $500 million strategic investment. A great marriage of brands, culture and abilities. 
  • Xponential Fitness Acquires Body Fit Training for $44 Million. BFT is the 10th brand for 
  • Xponential Fitness. BFT’s co-CEOs Cameron Falloon and Richard Burnet will continue to operate as the master franchisor in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore
  • Vouri, a California-based activewear brand, secured $400M in funding from Softbank, valuing the company at $4B
  • Amazon announced new products and services including the Halo View health tracker and two related services: Halo Fitness, which will launch with hundreds of studio-quality workout classes, and Halo Nutrition, aimed at helping people develop healthier eating habits. 
  • LifeTime completed its IPO in very tough market conditions, raising $702 million, selling 39 million shares at $18 a share. 
  • IFIT Health & Fitness Inc postponed its planned IPO, citing unfavorable market conditions that have investors worried about growing volatility in capital markets. We hope they will return to market in the coming months.
  • UFC GYM entering the Sydney CBD with its Flagship UFC GYM Signature. This club will include Strength, Cardio, BJJ, Wrestling, Boxing Conditioning, Yoga, Wellness Space, Recovery, Retail & Nutrition! Opening Early 2022
  • Fast growing boutique fitness brand REVL has announced its ongoing growth with the opening of new sites in Charlestown and Norwood, along with the opening of their first overseas studio in Downtown Dubai
  • Fitness Australia introduces workplace wellbeing professionals – Victorian members who are dealing with the challenges of running a small business can get the free dedicated mental health support
  • Viva Leisure confirms the opening of a new site in NSW and that it has completed the acquisitions of two Plus Fitness sites in QLD and NSW, as well as an independent club in Victoria. More acquisitions in the pipeline.
  • Australian owned 24/7 gym franchise Stepz Fitness is looking forward to opening two new facilities as the NSW Government’s Coronavirus lockdown ends on 11th October, bringing the group’s footprint to 16 clubs
  • Rebel, Australia’s leading retailer of sporting equipment and apparel has officially launched a 10-year partnership with sports fan brand Fanatics – Australians can now shop the largest collection of official licensed sports apparel
  • Boxing-inspired boutique fitness brand Rumble is gearing up to launch in Australia following the inking of a Master Franchise Agreement that will see at least 100 studios open across the country over the next five years.
  • SpeedFit welcomes 3 new studios. With these latest additions, they now have 26 studios across Australia. SpeedFit is Australia’s largest EMS (electronic muscle stimulation) personal training fitness franchise.
  • Sportsworld Fitness Centre and Genesis Health + Fitness (Cairns 318) have joined forces to create a feature-packed fitness and health hub for the Cairns community.
  • Australian owned and founded gym franchise Plus Fitness has opened its 200th club – just 10 years after it commenced operations.
  • FITREC welcomes Australian Fitness Network to the Friends of FITREC Community – providing greater promotion of Australian Fitness Network learning opportunities, news and insights
  • Peloton opened its first showroom in Australia in Sydney, offering customers personalised product walkthroughs and live demonstration. Delayed by the pandemic, the connected fitness company will add additional stores throughout the holiday season and into next year.
  • Therabody has launched RecoveryAir – scientifically validated medical grade pneumatic compression technology to assist Australian athletes’ recovery
  • FITSTOP opens its 56th location and is also gearing up to launch NZ early 2022 with 9 Franchise Agreements secured. Plus, they opened their first Sydney location in Brookvale; the start of a huge development for 2022.
  • Xtend Barre has just won the 10,000 feet Member LOVE Award with Fitness Australia. Judging took into consideration google reviews across a number of topics like customer service, member connection, instructor experiences, studio environment and culture.
  • Club W concept will be opening on 1st November – Along with the Wellness Lounge, they have a Wellness Collective and Wellness Co-working. Congratulations Tony De Leede.
  • Sydney may have been in lockdown but that didn’t stop Sylvia and her 12RND Fitness team from running a great pre-sales & building an amazing community before opening her club.
  • The Health Promotion Board invites all Singapore-based organizations to join the National Steps ChallengeTM Season 6 Corporate Challenge. Stay active alongside your co-workers and earn up to $10,000 in rewards!
  • The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) has appointed Singapore as the host country for the upcoming biennial football competition – the AFF Suzuki Cup – scheduled to take place from 5th Dec 2021 – 1st Jan 2022.
  • Lululemon opens a new outlet in vivocity, Singapore’s 5th store.
  • Accor is set to open Pullman Singapore Orchard, a rebranded property occupying a prime location in the very heart of the Orchard Road shopping belt (early 2022)
  • Anytime Fitness’s 75th club opening in Singapore. Anytime Fitness launches their latest collaboration with International Fitness Academy – discounted courses for staff & members
  • 3rd Milan Pole Dance Studio opening at the end of Oct -their flagship Aerial Fitness studio and future plans to integrate dance along with more holistic wellness options for the community
  • Yoga Movement announced the opening of YM Serangoon Gardens (opening 1 Nov). This marks their 8th location (including our online studio YM LIVE) and our 3rd new space this year.
  • Congratulations Patrick for the launch of Superfly Studios and app – Robertson Walk and Shaw Centre. A concept with yoga, pilates, aerobics, HIIT, EMS functional training and more.
  • Zesty Kicks successfully launched “FitMuay”, a Muay Thai Padwork skills course accredited by ACE and KMA Thailand. Also approved by SkillsFuture, UTAP and CoachSG. Congrats Vinz!
  • Velco Tan, a national athlete with the Singapore Amateur Boxing Association, joins Spartans Boxing Club as full-time coach. He has participated in over 20 fights locally and internationally and won 2 gold medals in 2019 and 2021.

  • Intelivideo announces partnership with Matrix fitness – this alliance allows club operators and gym owners to offer their members access to on-demand & live-streaming platform (omnichannel experience)
  • Pullman Hotels & Resorts (Accor group) introduced the Pullman Fitness Squad – a group of fitness ambassadors from around the world to lead Pullman wellbeing and fitness initiatives oversee the full range of Pullman X Les Mills live classes, on-property bootcamps and other special events.
  • TUT Fitness Group and CENTRED Sign Global Partnership Agreement to Promote TUT Exercise Equipment to Private Marketplace of 57M Health & Wellness Consumers
    WellteQ Digital Health Inc. has extended its agreement with Australia’s fourth largest private health insurer through a three-year Service Agreement.
  • Keepme, AI-based revenue acceleration CRM, has two new APAC deals – Cockburn ARC (AU) Physique57 (India)

  • Les Mills has launched LES MILLS+, an upgraded app, the first global omni-channel fitness offering, replacing LES MILLS On Demand, which saw a 900% increase in downloads in 2020.
  • Marking 10 years of operation, FitnessOnDemand introduced a new live streaming feature, offering the opportunity to scale-up live classes to include additional virtual participants.
  • Snap Fitness AU launched wellness initiative “Move Your Mood For Good” in partnership with mental health organisation LIVIN to raise awareness and funds for mental health this October. In support of the AU Mental Health Month, Snap Fitness venues across Australia opened their doors to the public at no cost for one week from 11th to 16th October, where permitted based on COVID restrictions. As part of the fundraising initiative, the teams have also created ‘The Amazing Mood Chase’, an activation supported by Myzone encouraging the general public across ANZ to register, fundraise and pledge their own wellness goal to move their mood for good in October. The importance of self-care and taking proactive steps to look after your mental health.
